Choosing a product collection in the builder
Your chat assistant recommends products from a single product collection — the set of products it can show, suggest, and link to. This article explains how to pick which collection your assistant uses, right inside the builder.
Before you start
You need at least one product collection with products in it. Collections are created when you upload or import products. If you haven't added any products yet, the builder shows a No Product Collections message with a Go to Products button — click it to add products first, then come back.
Select a collection
- Open your assistant in the builder and go to the Products tab. Screenshotthe builder's Products tab, showing the "Products" panel header
- In the top-right of the Products panel, open the collection dropdown labeled Select a collection. Screenshotthe collection dropdown open, listing available collections
- Choose the collection you want your assistant to use. The dropdown lists every collection in your account by name.
- Your choice saves automatically — there's no separate save button.
That's it. Your assistant will now draw its product recommendations from the collection you picked.
What the labels mean
- Shopify badge — collections synced from a connected Shopify store show a green Shopify tag next to their name, so you can tell them apart from collections you built by importing products yourself.
- No product feed — if this option appears in the dropdown, choosing it tells the assistant to run without a connected product collection. VerifyNo product feed (This option is only available on accounts where AI-generated rules are turned on.)
- No collections available — a greyed-out entry that appears when your account has no collections yet. Add products first.
Good to know
- Switching collections resets your featured products. If you've hand-picked welcome products or fallback products for the current collection, changing the collection clears those selections, because products from the old collection no longer apply. You'll set them again for the new collection.
- One collection at a time. An assistant uses a single collection. If you want two assistants to recommend different product sets, point each one at its own collection.
- Managing collections themselves — renaming, duplicating, setting a default, exporting, replacing the feed, or deleting a collection — happens on the Products page, not in the builder. Use the builder's dropdown only to choose which existing collection this assistant uses. VerifyProducts page
Replacing a collection's feed
If you build a collection by importing products (not from Shopify), you can swap its entire product list for a fresh one without creating a new collection. This is handy when you have an updated CSV export and want the assistant to use it in place of what's there now.
- On the Products page, open the collection's actions menu — hover over the collection and click the three-dots (more) button. Screenshota collection row with its three-dots actions menu open
- Choose Replace Feed.
- A confirmation dialog titled Replace Feed warns you that this will delete all products in that collection and replace them with a new CSV upload. Your chat configurations using this collection are not affected — only the products change. Click Choose File to continue.
- Pick your new CSV file. The new products are uploaded first, then the old products are cleared, and you'll see a Replace started message while the import runs.
A few things to keep in mind:
- Replace Feed is only available for collections you imported yourself. Collections synced from Shopify don't offer this action, because their products come from your Shopify store.
- This clears the collection's current products. Replacing the feed empties the collection and rebuilds it from your uploaded file, so make sure the CSV contains everything you want the assistant to recommend.
Troubleshooting
- The dropdown says "Loading collections..." — give it a moment; it's still fetching your collections. If it never finishes, refresh the page.
- My new collection isn't listed. — Newly added collections can take a moment to appear. Refresh the builder, and confirm the collection actually contains products.
