Find your AEO visibility gaps with Gap Finder
Gap Finder shows you where your brand is and isn't showing up in AI engine answers, broken down by the consumer intents (called "spaces") your customers actually ask about. Use it to see which spaces you're winning, which ones you're missing, and which rival brands the engines name instead of you.
Before you start
You need a completed Gap Finder run. Gap Finder analysis appears once a run finishes and has mapped your spaces. If a run shows "No spaces were mapped for this run," the analysis hasn't produced any intent clusters yet — start or wait for a new run.
Open Gap Finder
- Open the run you want to review. Screenshota completed run's results view with the Gap Finder section visible
- At the top of the Gap Finder section you'll see two tabs. The first is named after your brand and shows how many spaces were mapped; the second, Rivals, shows how many spaces have a rival showing up where you don't. Each tab shows its count in a badge. - Note the indicator beside the heading: Grounded in your catalog (green dot) means the analysis used your own product data; Inferred from public data means it was built from public information only.
Review your spaces (the brand tab)
The brand tab opens on the question "Where are your visibility gaps?" and lists every space with a bar showing your share of answers.
- Read each row: the space name, a confidence tag (Core, Adjacent, or Speculative), your visibility percentage, and how many answers named you (for example, "3/8 answers").
- The bar color flags how weak you are in that space — green is strong, amber is partial, red means you're absent.
- Use the Strongest first / Weakest first toggle to sort. Choose Weakest first to surface your biggest gaps. Screenshotthe brand tab showing space rows with colored bars and the sort toggle
- Click any space to expand it. Under Queries, you can open each query to read the full engine answers with your brand highlighted, and use Jump to [your brand] to jump straight to where you're named. Under Rivals, you'll see the full ranking of brands named in that space, with your position marked "you."
See who wins the intents (Rivals tab)
The Rivals tab answers "Who wins these intents?" — for each space that has competitors, it shows a leaderboard of the brands the engines name and where you rank.
- Each space shows you rank #X of Y at a glance. Expand a space to see the full order, with your brand highlighted and labeled "you."
- Longer bars mean a brand was named more often. Focus on spaces where you rank low but rivals rank high — those are the clearest opportunities.
If you see "No rivals surfaced," the engines didn't name other brands in those spaces.
Read the framing strip
At the top of each tab, a framing strip shows the attributes the engines associate with your brand — for example Verifyattribute chips like "affordable" or "durable" — each with a count and a color dot for tone (green for positive, gray for neutral, red for negative). Use the tone dropdown (All, Positive, Negative, Neutral) to filter; each option shows its count. If there are more attributes than fit, use show more to reveal the rest (and show fewer to collapse them again). Verifybuttons "show N more" / "show fewer"
The strip has a different focus on each tab, so it's worth reading both:
- On the brand tab, it shows attributes the engines say uniquely of you — traits none of your rivals were described with. The heading reads Verify"How the engines uniquely describe {your brand}". These are the qualities that set you apart in AI answers.
- On the Rivals tab, it shows attributes you share with rivals — traits the engines apply to both you and at least one competitor. The heading reads Verify"How {your brand} is framed vs rivals". Here you can turn on Show rivals to see, on each chip, which competitors are described the same way. Reading the two together tells you where you stand out and where you blend in with the competition.
What to do next
Prioritize spaces flagged red or amber, especially where rivals rank above you. Those are the intents where creating or strengthening content is most likely to move your AI visibility.
